To the south on Highway A1, just 45 minutes away, is the north exit for Rome, while Florence is just a little over one hour's drive north on the same highway. The Tyrrhenian coast of Monte Argentario, in Tuscany, is 90 minutes away and the Massif of Monte Amiata is about the same distance away.
In addition, there are many more places of interest in the surrounding area, such as Lake Bolsena, just across the border with Latium, and Lake Trasimeno to the north-east. Umbria is a region rich in history and art tradition and includes famous places such as Assisi, the hometown of San Francis Assisi, the historic town of Todi, and Spoleto, seat of the world famous art event Festival dei Due Mondi, or The Festival Two Worlds, among others. (The Spoleto Festival includes classical music and jazz concerts, theater, movies and dance shows.
